Frugal Day 4: Bread&Butter

This is my final assault on bread, buns, crusts and crumbs so that I don’t have to go out and find ravens to feed! It’s unfortunate that many of my friends are gluten-free or I could be supplying them all with re-purposed bread products.

I did find some folks who like croutons on their salads, so here we go with another stab at the bread supply!

split shot of making croutons

The instructions are easy (and make your kitchen smell yummy!) I used sage, oregano and finely chopped rosemary:

  • 4 cups of cubed bread
  • 1/4 cup of butter
  • 1 tbsp of mixed spices or garlic salt

Toss bread cubes and melted butter with spices until combined. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 15 minutes until crisp. Store in a ziplock bag, or freeze until ready to use.
