Frugal Day 5: From the Garden

What’s not to love about using three frugal tips at once? I’m eating from my stockpile, a one dollar jar of pasta sauce (#1), with picked-for-free squash (#8), for a meatless meal (#10)!!

This squash, from my garden, may be the only squash I will be harvesting this year. That makes it all the more sweet. I aim to be earlier next year in my planting, thus producing vegetables sooner.

I simply cooked it for 35 mins at 375 degrees F with the cut facing up and brushed with olive oil, salt and pepper. Pulled off the flesh with a fork and it dolloped with marinara sauce making a delicious dinner!  Even when they don’t come from the garden these are a great alternative to pasta. Try it and enjoy!
