The best way to see the tundra close up, is to lie down on it, all bundled up, and scoot along on your elbows picking berries as you go. This is a fall activity in Nunavut and is one of my favourites, because of how close and connected you feel to the tundra. August is both berry season and when the tundra turns its fall colours, just like leaves in forests ahead of the arrival of snow.
I was fortunate, last weekend, to take a trip to Iqaluit with some friends. While the flower season is long over, today’s Friday flowers is of the Arctic ground cover. It’s delicate detail is still very pretty and worth sharing. Happy Friday!
